HISTORY

J & R McIntosh Feeds can trace its origins to 1959 when brothers Jack and Don McIntosh began to seek better feed supplements for their horse and dairy farms. A chance meeting with a nutritionist from Michigan State University lead to the testing and marketing of various horse, hog, and cattle supplements. Emphasis was on higher quality proteins and increased levels of fats than what was normal for feeds of that era. Needless to say, these new feeds became very popular. A mill was constructed in 1962 and operated successfully for many years until the passing of its founders.

Their sons Robert and John McIntosh formed a new company - J & R McIntosh Feeds with the idea of creating a supplement with the same care and quality of years earlier. Natural ingredients were selected and along with unique ideas in processing led to the creation of a palatable protein base for the McIntosh Horse Feed Supplement. A leading nutritionist was consulted and the supplement was tested extensively in Robert's stable and broodmare band.
